The Senior Legal Counsel will be a core member of the Group in house legal team.
The role holder will provide legal advice to the Board and Senior Management, and work closely with client-facing employees and external advisers in relation to legal matters arising in the day-to-day administration of complex high-value fiduciary structures.
Provide legal advice in relation to trust, tax and company law, and support Client Administration teams (predominately Client Directors and above) in the technical drafting of trust instruments and contractual agreements
Manage and oversee the work of junior Legal Counsel and play a key role in their personal development
Develop wider roles within the business (e.g. act as personal director to corporate trustees/directors or lead client relationships to increase revenue generation)
Contribute to business development by attending external networking events, conferences and supporting new business enquiries where applicable, including revenue generation
About You:
Previous experience held in private practice or inhouse legal within a similar trust business
A good understanding of the Codes, guidelines, and expectations of the JFSC
Knowledge of trust and company law and (ideally) UK tax law, including a sound knowledge of fiduciary structures and functions
Ability to learn and become an expert in new legislation or regulation which is or becomes relevant
Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
Good project management skills
Able to identify and manage any relevant material risks
